EDUKASI PENCEGAHAN STROKE PADA LANSIA DENGAN HIPERTENSI DI SEKOLAH LANSIA TANGGUH (SELANTANG) KELURAHAN JATIMULYO KECAMATAN LOWOKWARU KOTA MALANG

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition where a person's blood pressure is above normal, namely when systolic blood pressure is more than 139 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure is more than 89 mmHg. Management of hypertension is needed to prevent long-term target organ damage, thereby reducing complications and death. One of the complications that often occurs in hypertensive patients is stroke. Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease and is a worldwide problem. Stroke is a physical disorder that occurs suddenly caused by impaired blood circulation to the brain. In this regard, we conducted a community service activity (pengabmas) entitled "Education on Stroke Prevention in Hypertensive Elderly at the Resilient Elderly School, Jatimulyo Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City". The community service activity was carried out on June 1, 2024 at the Resilient Elderly School, Jatimulyo Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of the elderly with hypertension about stroke prevention. The method used is to conduct an initial assessment of elderly knowledge about stroke prevention with a pre-test, provide education to elderly with hypertension, and conduct an evaluation with a post-test. The media used during education are power point presentations and videos. The target output of community service is an education module on stroke prevention in elderly with hypertension. The results of this community service activity are expected to increase the knowledge of elderly with hypertension about stroke prevention, so that it is expected to reduce the incidence of stroke in elderly with hypertension.
